2. Outside Boxing
First of all, I have to admit that, along with lancero and perfecto, a boxed pressed torpedo is pretty much my favourite vitola. Because of this, it had already started with a respectable pre-light score before I even got the Aging Room Nicaragua Maestro out of my humidor. The wrapper had no flaws or imperfections, and it felt smooth and shiny as I took it out of the cellophane.
My nose was tickled by scents that transported me back to some of the greatest humidors I’ve ever been in. I was excited to cut, light, and taste the joys awaiting me because of the inviting scents of cedar and sweet tobacco with subtle cocoa overtones.
3. Appearance of the Aging Room Quattro Nicaragua Maestro
This cigar looks really good, with discrete veins, a clean box press, a masterfully put triple cap, concealed seams, and somewhat canine.
Even though the cigar is filled, there is still a pleasant resistance when you squeeze it. The wrapper is a speckled espresso colour in room light. There’s also a little reddish hue in the sun.

The Aging Room Quattro Nicaragua Maestro showcases impeccable burn qualities, ensuring an even and consistent burn line. Nodal tried several mixes before deciding on the blend used in the finished product because he wanted the Quatro Nicaragua to be unique. The excellent aged Nicaraguan leaf makes the filler and binder tobaccos. But the wrapper made of Sumatra from Nicaragua is the show’s real star.
Given that Cigar Aficionado gave the Quatro Nicaragua a 96 rating, Nodal chose the blend well. Cigar Aficionado has never given a rating this high before.
8. Aroma and Taste
I went with a 45-degree angle and a straight cut, which is my preference for a figurado head. This is the vitola that I find to be the most satisfying. I could taste the cedar and leather in the smooth, easy draw of the cold draw. When I lit the cigar, a beautiful peppery spice danced across my palate along with incredibly creamy and silky smoke.
After a few draws, the cigar revealed some of its mysteries. As I enjoyed each puff, every flavour gradually extended around my tongue. A taste of leather accompanied the pepperiness. Coffee and cocoa started to emerge as this faded, and towards the end of the tasting profile, sweet spiced fruits took centre stage.
Varied notes of creaminess, malt, caramel, nutty, cedar, faint barnyard, black pepper, clove, and espresso accentuate the strong aroma of dark chocolate. Flavours of black pepper, dark chocolate, espresso, malt, caramel, creaminess, clove, and nuts can be detected in the cold draw.
9. Tasting Notes for Aging Room Quatro Nicaragua
The flavor profile of the Aging Room Quattro Nicaragua Maestro is its crowning glory. Upon lighting, the initial draw releases a burst of peppery spice, whose strength gradually mellows to reveal a symphony of flavor notes. Earthy nuances of cedar, leather, and roasted coffee beans dominate the palate, complemented by hints of black pepper, dark chocolate, and a subtle sweetness. The flavors are well-balanced and evolve beautifully throughout the smoke, providing a truly engaging experience.
a. Pre-light
The Quatro Nicaragua has a stunning dark brown wrapper with very minor veins visible. A premium cigar is distinguished by its box-pressed torpedo shape, which is tightly symmetrical and flawless. Though a little dated the Aging Room band in black and gold does look elegant. The word “Nicaragua” is printed on a smaller orange ring attached to the cigar.
Coffee, cocoa, and earthy aromas emerged with a cold draw. The cigar has a subtle earthy aroma before it is lit.
b. First third
The cigar tastes like black pepper from the first light. But this spicy undertone goes away fast. After a few draws, the earthy aromas evident on the pre-light draw and nose returned. Notes of leather and wood complement these earthy flavours. As the cigar gets closer to the middle third, the flavour of leather starts to diminish, but the notes of wood and soil are still present.
The fact that the cigar burned almost evenly for the first third of its life suggests that it was manufactured correctly. Its tight, white ash production is another sign of fine tobacco and precise manufacturing.
c. Mid third
The first third’s earthy and woody notes reappear in the mid-third, but they are soon accompanied by various other flavours. Coffee and delectable hints of dried fruit start to emerge. Even a faint taste of dark chocolate is present, and when the flavours of wood and dirt begin to wane, so does their prominence. As the middle of the cigar burns down, a sweeter flavour profile gradually emerges.
You want the ash to remain white and tight from a premium cigar. It should be mentioned that there is some uneven burning while using the Quatro Nicaragua. I even had to dab at it with my lighter, but that shouldn’t have too much of an impact on the flavour.
d. Last third
In the last third, the Quatro Nicarágua shows its class as a premium cigar. The flavours of wood and dirt, which had begun to wane in the middle third, entirely vanish. Rich cream flavour is a delightful substitute for them. Even when it was burned all the way to the end, the cigar’s delicious, rich cream flavour persisted. There was no harshness from the nub, and the smoke remained cold and silky. Of course, this is expected from a premium cigar with such good ratings.
The cigar kept producing the tight, white ash, which is a crucial sign of excellence. The Quatro Nicaragua burned evenly through the last third, even at the finish, but I did have to touch it up a little in the middle. Like the Quatro Nicaragua, only the greatest cigars retain their flavour and form to the end.
